PAUL: THE GAME
CHAPTER I · OUT NOW · FREE

A pixel-art adventure through the life of the Apostle Paul, from a Jewish boyhood in Tarsus to the road to Damascus and beyond.

PLAY THE GAME

WHAT IS PAUL?

Paul is a story game that follows the life of Saul of Tarsus: his early years, young adulthood, conversion, missionary journeys, imprisonments, shipwrecks and death. Along the way, players learn about Judaism, the life of Jesus, the history of the early Church and the theology of Paul.

You don't just read about Paul. You live his days: setting the Passover table with his mother, saying the Shema with his father, unrolling the scroll of Moses at the synagogue school, stitching tents in the workshop and teaching in Jerusalem. Every choice and mini-game shapes three scores that rise and fall as his story turns.

DENARII

Money from tentmaking and, later, from those who back his cause.

KNOWLEDGE

What he learns of the Law and the Scriptures, and how that knowledge is later transformed.

POPULARITY

The approval of the people around him, won and lost as his life changes course.

THE JOURNEY

Paul's life unfolds in four acts. The first is ready to play now.

COMING
ACT IV

THE APOSTLE

The Shema word puzzle in Hebrew and English
Saying the Shema with Father: "Hear, O Israel."

WHY MAKE THIS?

To tell one of history's most dramatic turnarounds in a way you can play, and to take its world seriously.

Paul's letters shaped the Christian faith, but he began as a devout Jewish boy who kept the Law, said the Shema and prayed with his family at Passover. The game starts there, with care for the history: the customs of a first-century Jewish home, the rules for leaven on the day before Passover, the Roman city around it.

The verses young Saul memorises in Chapter I come back after his conversion, when he sees them in a new light. The hope is that players come away knowing the story, and a little more curious about the One Paul spent his life searching for.
